Biography

Work

I am in my first year with the Coffee County School System as counselor for Indian Creek Elementary School. I thank God for the opportunity to work in such a nurturing school in such a loving community. Prior to this I was employed for ten years as a counselor for Turner County Elementary School in Ashburn, Georgia. I worked the twenty-five previous years as a counselor in elementary, middle, and high schools in Alabama and as an orientation counselor at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). I have also been a crisis counselor for the American Red Cross at Fort Rucker, Alabama serving military members and their families in times of family emergency.

Education

I earned my last degree, an Education Specialist in School Counseling, in 2012 from Valdosta State University, graduating as the 2012 Outstanding School Counseling Ed.S Student.  I have also done post graduate work at the University of Alabama in Elementary School Counseling, and have a M.S. and B.S. from Troy University in Counseling and Behavioral Sciences respectively with concentrations in Psychology, and Sociology.

Hobbies

This should read my passion rather than hobby:  I breed and exhibit Borzoi (Russian Wolfhounds).  I have had many Conformation (Show) Champions but primarily focus on performance borzoi. I have had many Field Champions with multiple racing and coursing titles. I have competed with my borzoi nationally in a sport for sighthounds called lure coursing. I have been fortunate to have had the national number 1 borzoi in both AKC and ASFA (American Sighthound Field Association) on multiple occasions (2004, 2005, 2008, 2009) as well as having the Southeast U.S. number 1 borzoi in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2014. I mainly consider them as my family though and breed for myself, not to sell.  I am also active with youth and our great outdoors, serving as the President of the Ben Hill-Irwin Chapter of the Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation. Our chapter promotes the heritage of hunting and fishing by sponsoring youth fishing and hunting events.

Family

I am married to a wonderful lady named Traci. We live in Ben Hill County on a farm that we call Tsarytsin (Our kennel name).  Traci also works in education as a Pre-K Paraprofessional at Irwin County Elementary School in Ocilla.
